Facilitating Access to Global Observing Systems Data and Information

SOOP Data Access

Data Availability: Data are available online. SOOPIP is establishing itself as an operational programme and is therefore participating in the Joint WMO-IOC Technical Commission for Oceanography and Marine Meteorology (JCOMM) and particularly in its Ship Observations Team (SOT). Data management is taken care of through the Global Temperature Salinity Profile Programme (GTSPP).

Access the Database

SOOP provides upper ocean measurements data:

  • MEDS - (Canada). This database holds the most recent temperature and salinity profile data from the networks. It is updated 3 times weekly with data from hours to months old from the networks.
    | Access Real-time data via GTSPP |
  • (CMD) NODC - (USA). This database holds all available temperature and salinity profile data from MEDS as well as profile data from other sources, including the full resolution copies of the real time data.
    | Access GTSPP Continuously Managed Database |

Access Data Flow Information

GTS data flow statistics are available from MEDS(Select the "international data flow" link under data flow monitoring). JCOMMops provides the SOOP line sampling report.

Data Products

The GOOS Center in AOML provides various data products based on the upper ocean thermal data set.

The CSIRO provides analyses of upper ocean thermal data by year for the Indian Ocean.

Other

JCOMMops  provides information on sampling lines, ships, and instruments used.
