  • Climate Alert Bulletins: Since 1990, the CPPS has published the Climate Alert Bulletins (BAC) with descriptive information about the parameters of the ocean and atmosphere of the Southeastern Pacific. The BAC provides present data on marine climate and forecasts for the following three months. A simple version is prepared by the CPPS Secretariat General and is available on their website.

  • Ocean Surface Temperature Anomalies: This graphical image shows the difference between the present temperature of the sea and the average temperature for the Southeastern Pacific ocean. These differences are known as positive or negative anomalies. The data is collected by the Advanced Very High Resolution Radiometer (AVRRR) of NOAA with a space of 1° x 1°. Soon they will be able to obtain a space of 0.5 x 0.5.

  • Wave Velocity Forecasts: These images show a 120 hour forecast of the height of the waves (in meters) as well as the direction for the Southeastern Pacific. These forecasts are created from the Wave Watch III (WW3) numerical model.

  • Seasonal Rain Forecast: A seasonal rain regional synthesis as well as a forecast by country are made by analyzing the oceanographic and atmospheric conditions of 126 weather stations in Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, and Chile.

  • Summary of Seasonal Forecasts: This table is a compilation of seasonal forecasts from reliable climate models for the west coast of South America, which are provided by the Centro Internacional para la Investigacion del Fenomeno de El Nino (CIIFEN). Climatic predictions at a national level are available through the National Meteorological Services of each country, which are listed on the top row of the table. Forecasts from the individual models are listed beneath the national predictions.

  • Wind Velocity: The image shows the wind speed and direction from 10 meters above the sea surface. This data is collected by the QUICKScat sensor. The arrows indicate the wind direction and the color of the arrows indicate the speed in m/s.

  • Sea Level Anomalies: This image shows the field of sea level anomalies, which are calculated by satellite.
